There have been a number of bugs reported in Red Hat bugzilla against X which have recently been tracked down to 3rd party video drivers being the culprit behind the problem the user was experienced. In many of the cases however, it wasn't obvious that the 3rd party drivers were at fault because the user was actually using the Red Hat/Fedora supplied drivers, and not using the 3rd party driver that they had previously installed.

The ATi fglrx driver has been packaged as a kmod and is available from the RPMFusion repo.

We suggest using the nVidia rpms from the RPMFusion repository. Some people report problems once in a great while. If you are one of those people here's how to install the nVidia drivers if the RPM doesn't work (or if you don't want to use the RPM):

There are kernel modules provided by RPMFusion that are specifically designed for Fedora. If you're using yum, and you're using our suggested yum configuration, you should be able to install the drivers easily. At times new users are poorly informed and assume the best way to get 3D and added feature support for their nVidia graphics cards is to install the driver as provided by nVidia. We believe this is not the case. We recommend using the kernel modules provided by RPMFusion.
