Totem-xine is a simple but powerfull movie player, this version is in RPMFusion repo, and is linked against xine-lib unlike Fedora totem package, which is linked against gstreamer. Support for DVD playing will also be added.
Applicable to Fedora Versions
- Fedora 7
Requirements
This assumes you have a working Fedora installation and that you have configured yum to use RPMFusion.
Doing the Work
Installling totem-xine
- Totem, and not totem-xine, is included by default, to use
totem-xine you first have to remove totem, totem-mozplugin and
totem-plparser because these will conflict with the dependencies of
totem-xine. Totem-plparser by it self will pull out, because of
dependencies, all what we want, plus rhythmbox if you have it, but for
clearness of the process lets remove the 3 components:
- Now install the real stuff (some extra libraries from livna will give us more versality):
su -c 'yum remove totem'
su -c 'yum install totem-xine totem-xine-mozplugin totem-xine-plparser libdvdcss libdvdnav libdvdplay xine-lib-extras-nonfree'
Troubleshooting
How to test
Stick in your favorite movie-dvd, or open a non free video format.
